Staying at 1923 By The Sea was like stepping back in time. Located right on the beach, it was a perfect place for our extended family to reunite for days beginning with sunrise walks on the beach, nights enjoying stunning sunsets (from the other side of the island), and unforgettable “porch sitting” where we played cards or just sat around and talked. Although it was hard to find the drive to enter the property, that also added to the appeal as the property is surrounded by mature trees giving it a private and secluded feel in what I’m sure is a busy tourist town.

Best ocean front house on Tybee
Charming old world character with tons of unique vintage details. Spacious. Comfortable. Accessible. Secluded. Adorable.

Back on Tybee Time
Stone Mountain GA
1923 by the Sea is old, well loved, unpretentious, and comfortable... just like Tybee.
It’s not modern, but it had all we needed.
It’s crooked, but clean and cozy... the porch is great!
Best of all is proximity to the beach... you just walk out the back door and over the private crosswalk to the water.
We’ll stay again!

We really enjoyed staying at 1923 By the Sea for the week! Great location, within walking distance to the pier, shops, and restaurants. Short walk over the dunes to the beach. It was great for us!

Beautiful old cottage could use a heavy dose of TLC
My family has stayed here many times but we probably won't again until we can be sure everything will work properly (hot water had funky smell at first, dishwasher never worked during our 5 days), certain upgrades have happened (sister got locked in her bedroom because the ancient doorknob was broken), and we'll arrive to a cottage whose floors have been scrubbed clean, and the porch and porch furniture have been wiped down. It's a shame because this place is incredibly charming and beautifully and conveniently situated.

Beautiful historic home
We enjoyed our stay at 1923 By The Sea. We loved the charm that an old home provides. It was quintessential Tybee. The oak tree lot is gorgeous - and rare on Tybee. We enjoyed family time inside and out on the porch. We walked 13th Street for beach access which was a short walk.

Old, charming, Southern beach cottage. Emphasis on old.
We had a very enjoyable family vacation in this old Beach property. There is no view of the ocean or Beach but a short walk across a dune path to a beautiful Beach. The place is very clean but very old. We had basically zero contact with the management company but there was no need to be in touch with them either.

Quaint Cottage by the Ocean
Overall we loved the location of the stay. Loved the screened in porch, that was a huge highlight. But the walk to the ocean was not the easiest, especially for an older person, the outlets and beds REALLY need to be updated, and do not be fooled when other reviews mention the beach equipment. They are old, broken ones that are left behind. If they just invested in 4-5 good chairs and 2 umbrellas it would be perfect.

Perfect One of a Kind Beach House
Beautiful historic home! The screened in porch was great for relaxing. The proximity to the beach was great. We were able to walk the beach each morning. House came well supplied with linens and towels. Basement had plenty of beach chairs etc. Could use some new mattresses but other than that it was a fantastic rental. 100% would stay again.

1923 by the Sea
My family, friends, and I thoroughly enjoyed our Tybee vacation. This lovely, historic cottage, tucked behind the dunes and natural landscaping, is a unique place. Most of our time was spent on the large screened porch and on the gorgeous beach.

Awesome location with private access to the beach and an easy walk to IGA to pick up any supplies we needed. The downstairs showers were perfect for coming up from the beach to shower and the screened-in porch was perfect for hanging out in the evenings after a long day at the beach. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and had plenty of room for the 9 of us to spread out and sleep comfortably. Would definitely recommend to anyone else coming to Tybee.

1923 By The Sea: Beautiful vintage home
This is a wonderful old house full of vintage Character. Up to date appliances in kitchen. Washer and dryer quite old but still working. Loads of character in this house. Kitchen is very well stocked. Plenty of dishes, silverware, pots, pans and many other items. Everything was clean. Extra linens, towels and even several beach towels. Several beach chairs, sand toys, beach umbrellas & wave boards. Beds are bouncy but comfortable.
The screened back porch area is absolutely amazing. We spent a lot of time there and the beach. Beach access is wonderful . The walkway through dunes was beautiful but tough for this ol lady. Beach was not crowded.
The outside shower and the 2 in basement area are very convenient and clean. There is another nice and convenient bathroom down there not listed.
Location to downtown is very good. But sets back off road so no traffic noises. Plenty of parking for vehicles.
All in all this is a great vintage home. We had a wonderful stay.
