Cute Historical House with needs of improvement

Entering the home we noticed discrepancies, and although it described the bathrooms 1 up and 1 down, the images depicted 2 bathrooms upstairs. The additional toilet and shower in the basement, which while effective, the images did not show the toilet in the lower level and took us nearly a half an hour to find, because the door was shut so tightly, nearly locked. The kitchen did not offer many amenities. Typically rentals offer basic essentials; seasonings, proper utensils, and storage. No pantry, so we rearrange 2 shelves of dishes to make space. We also purchased quality garbage bags. The bedroom pictured with a tv, was inaccurate. Only 1 tv available and located in the main living area. The living room lacked 1 wicker chair, and tired uncomfortable seat cushions. The walking trail to the beach, not described accurately. Management employee became unpleasant, and said if that's what you see, then that's what path to use. The path, broken into two separate directions, one of which ends into bushes, the other walks you through an entirely different property. This had us worried with neighbors concerned with our guests entering during their enjoyment. I raised concerns and the management employee came across as if I was wasting her time. The details explain the path being "shared", this is hardly a "shared" path. The patch leads you to the beach climbing through brushed terrain. The basement ceiling light did not remain on. The mirrors in each bedroom were something from a spooky house - unclear, and foggy. The make-up mirror shown in the details was not made available, another misleading feature. One broken dining chair - again leaving inadequate seating for the amount of visitors allowed. The fans in each room did remain on, unless the light was on. Each bathroom shower was plugged, leaving water filled during use up to our ankles. Glass was found on the shower floor of the "Boys" shower. Cute historical home, location great, ample parking, secluded.

We visited 1923 By The Sea on Memorial Day weekend with 3 adults and 4 kids aged 8-13. The house is very private from the busyness of the strip but close enough to walk to several restaurants, shops, and the pier. The walk to the beach takes just a few minutes (we used the 13th Street entrance). The house itself was gorgeous and historic with plenty of space to accommodate our group. The kitchen had the proper amenities to be able to cook meals easily. The plumbing and AC unit were great, especially considering the age of the home. The porch was a great hangout spot. A few cons- The hardwood floors are saggy through the middle of the house, so we felt the need to walk carefully. Sound travels easily and quiet sounds are amplified due to the lack of textiles. The couch and chairs in the living room are solid, but the cushions are lacking for any kind of support. Okay for the kids, but the adults didn’t like to sit in the living room. Most of the outlets in the house are old and loose, causing plugs to fall out easily so we had to double check that devices were actually charging. The area under the house with the washer/dryer and outdoor shower rooms had large containers of standing water so there were tons of mosquitoes down there. Some of the boards on the steps/porch area leading to the front door had loose nails and boards. We found a broom but no dust pan, so we couldn’t keep up with the inevitable sand that gets tracked in from the driveway and yard. Once we took out the trash we discovered there were no extra trash bags for the kitchen. Overall, the house are location are nice and we would stay here again.

Historic Charm on Tybee

We loved staying at 1923 By the Sea! It's one of the last remaining Butler to the Beach Tybee lots with a beautiful 1923 historic cottage that is as if time stood still. If you enjoy history and the craftmanship of homes built a 100 years ago you will love this cottage with its wide L shaped porch and working sinks in each bedroom.
The location was perfectly situated between 12th and 13th streets for beach access for while the home is on the beach, direct access is limited due to the dunes and with chairs and such its much easier to simply use the public beach walkovers. The beach at these streets is awesome and very limited parking so crowds are non-existant.

My husband and I stayed here to recover after dropping off our college student. Thought it might feel too big for just the two of us (didn't realize it had so many bedrooms!), but this well-loved family home was so cozy, we never felt uncomfortable with its size. All the historical building character was lovely -- lots of little treasures to find in this home that was obviously the epitome of beach house luxury back in the day. If you want sleek, modern, perfection, this is not your vibe. If you appreciate a sedate back porch where you can hear the rain and waves and cicadas, comfy clean beds, cute kitchen, and access to beach and shops, all without fuss and with a little grace, then this is your place. Shows some wear and tear, but years of laughter and family time resonate here. It was perfect. (Suggest using the 13th street beach access if you need an easier walk to the beach. Good parking off street right in front of home.)

Pleasant stay. Home is 1923 vintage, so not modern/luxe, more of a well-used well-loved older home.
Driveway and entrance off street need some smoothing out.
Path to beach cuts across next door neighbor’s backyard- not clear how else to get to beach.
Overall a fine casual stay.

A Beautiful Rustic Private Retreat
Springfield GA

1923 by the Sea is a lovely property. I felt like I was stepping back in time as this house was reminiscent of those I stayed in at Tybee as a child (a long time ago). The wonderful wrap around porch and the overall decor of the cottage helped us all feel at home. It is an old rustic cottage but had all the amenities to meet our needs. The trip to the beach each day was so easy (we used the 13th Street boardwalk). I loved the privacy of this place. Playing games, reading, or just sitting on the porch felt like being in a tree house with the palms swaying all around. I would stay here again and recommend it to those who enjoy privacy and the feeling of stepping back in the past.

The cottage was full of historic charm. We loved the wrap around porch! The staff was quick to respond to our needs. We were disappointed with how many of the appliances were in disrepair or not working at all. The path to the beach was also overgrown making it impossible to pull a wagon or push a stroller. The space was described accurately online as far as what the rooms looked like and what amenities were available.

The charm of the historic home totally made our trip! It is a short walk to the beach, and I hope to return for a future visit! The limited toilets were the only downside, but my party of 9 gals still made it work. Loved our stay.

We loved the feel and charm of 1923 by the sea. Even when there was a little more rain than we would have preferred, the wrap-around porch was perfect for puzzles and games! We loved following the path, through the dunes to the beach. It was tucked away and private. We went into Savannah a couple of times, and the commute was easy. This house was a gem of a find!

The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The layout and the location was perfect. It was pretty clean, but the entire downstairs area smelled very musty, almost to the point that I was concerned to sleep downstairs. The knob fell off in one of the bathroom showers as well.
