A Fantastic Week!

Southern Tides was such a nice surprise. The house lended itself to our large family with ease. The bedrooms were all comfortable. The kids loved the bunk room and all the different living areas was great for some solitude. The pool was a welcomed break from the beach. Communication with Kelly was easy and smooth. We loved Tybee Island and will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time at the Southern Tides! Wonderful century home beautifully decorated with a well stocked kitchen. Close to all of the restaurants and shops on Butler Ave. Just minutes from the quiet calm waters of the inlet beach and the rolling waves of the ocean. If the ocean isn’t your thing there is a wonderful pool in the back yard!

Love the outdoor shower. Beds were very comfortable. Ping Pong table was fun for all. Never tried to use the pool, but outdoor areas were superior. Easy walk to stores, restaurants, ocean and inlet.

We have been coming to Tybee Island for several years and this has been our favorite house for many reasons. Great layout, location, private pool and amenities! We have also rented from Tybee Cottages in the past and their friendliness, professionalism, responsiveness and great selection and quality of their properties will keep us coming back! We have never had any issues or concerns and would highly recommend!

We had a girls weekend here. There were only 5 of us, but we wanted a place where we would each have our own room. This place is amazing! A few minutes walk to the beach! There are beach walks, boogie boards and beach chairs all underneath the house -everything you need for a day at the beach! They have thought of everything!

This house was a fantastic find. We had 10 family members 60+ and there was plenty of room. We parked the cars and walked everywhere. One block to the beach on the river, couple blocks to the beach on the ocean, and walking distance to a dozen restaurants. We had a great time. Jim & the crew thought of everything.

We have used Tybee Cottages for about 7 years now and Jim has always been right there to help with anything we’ve needed. This house has a wonderful beachy atmosphere. Nice, clean, and plenty of sleeping spaces. Kids really enjoyed the room with all the bunks. The pool was nice too. The only downfalls were the distance from the beach (about 4blocks) and parking (although we managed). Overall we had a great time. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a nice place near the beach

Overall a real positive. Great location, lots of room, very nice pool and very responsive rental agent for when small issues arose. Being an historic home, some things were worn and there were things that needed repair, but all in all they were minor.

Southern Tides is a wonderful house with lots of room to spread out and never feel crowded. The grandchildren enjoyed the pool and we all loved being so close to the back river beach. Great location and an easy walk to explore the other areas of Tybee.

We enjoyed this big old house. It is quirky - just the way we like it! Very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was wonderful and we cooked often. Beds were comfortable. The kids enjoyed the pool and under house ping pong table. The separate living spaces were ideal to watch TV or read away from others. The front porch was comfortable capturing breezes form two sides. Plenty of showers for our family of 12 folks. The house was very clean. Only negative was that the landscaping was not as tidy and put plant debris into the pool. Jim was very attentive and responded. We loved the sleeping porch and washer/dyer. Easy short walk to all beach spaces - the strand, back river, and Southern tip. Lovely family trip and this house contributed greatly!

A winter get-away

Tybee Cottages is our go-to vacation rentals spot. Southern Tides is large enough to fit our family beach get-always. It is roomy, yet cozy and comfortable. We like the vintage beach house and enjoy the beach decor and colors. Thanks to Jim and his staff, it’s overall, an enjoyable stay.

A return trip to the best house on Tybee!

This was our second time staying at Southern Tides, and it was as charming as we remembered. The layout of the house and the way the rooms are decorated makes it great for large groups - there are ample places to gather together, or to steal away and have some time to yourself. The kids loved the bunk room and the pool! We can't wait for next year. Also, in these challenging times, Jim was so kind to accommodate changes we needed to make to our reservation, and to talk me through the options. The customer service gets an A-Plus!

Beach house: Enjoyed the pool (selling point). Great decor. Used the grill and kitchen; furnished with all items needed for cooking. Washer/dryer/dishwasher worked well. Need something as a warning against bumping head due to low clearance below external staircase. A/C works well. Shower upstairs drains slowly (may be semi clogged). Clean at arrival day. Door to bunk room was squeeky

We've never done something like this before, and were so impressed. The kitchen, breakout spaces, and location to the downtown Tybee area were perfect. Well worth the money!

Perfect, sweet cottage

We loved our stay! The house has a great layout for large groups, with plenty of sitting areas for relaxing and chatting. Everything is well thought out. This was our 3rd rental home on Tybee and by far the best. Even the kitchen supplies were plentiful and clean. We were surprised how well stocked the kitchen was with pans, place settings, and tools. It was a joy to cook breakfast in the adorable kitchen with the doors to screen porch open and big band jazz playing on our Bluetooth speaker. Highly recommend! ☺️ The architecture of the home is charming and the decor is fun yet peaceful. The location is ideal. We love the north end and were a tiny bit hesitant about this home’s location. We came to love it, and might even prefer it now! Such an easy walk to the back river, ocean, and downtown. The coffee at Beachview B&B just a quick walk away is great! We could also walk to Seaweeds for ice cream, Wet Willie’s for drinks, and AJ’s for dinner. The south end was much fun at low tide with lots of tidal pools. We did hear some late-night music coming from downtown on weekend nights, but it was somewhat faint. Everything else about the location was ideal- close to town yet overall a quiet area. The backyard is also a great hangout! We had a wonderful vacation at Southern Tides!

Our overall stay at Southern Tides was awesome! The cottage offered a variety of sleeping quarters, and everyone loved the décor. I was amazed as to the number of cute spaces tucked away.
Southern Tide is located within walking distance of the river, ocean, and businesses. In the morning about all the traffic was by foot, walking dogs, and a bicycle or two.
The cottage was well-stocked, clean, and a sheer pleasure.
Manager, Mr. Heflin responded quickly to all our questions prior to our visit. He even recommended a dolphin excursion. Thanks to all.

This is the 6th house I have stayed in on Tybee and the best to date. We had two families with a total of 10 people and there was more than enough room for everyone to spread out. It was the most unique home, a true pleasure to live in for 7 days. I Highly recommend this house.

This house is beautifully appointed and obviously very well maintained. Everything you need is here. It is a short walk to the sandy beach, basically across the street. I can't wait to come back! Jim and Becky are very responsive to any concerns. We have rented from Tybee Cottages before. You can't do better than this team.

My family has been sending a week at Tybee every summer for fifteen years. General consensus, this was the best house ever. Multiple porches and living spaces. The kids loved the bunk room. We were able to walk easily to the back river beach as well as the south beach. It was also a short walk to the shops and Stingrays. We all loved the pools but the mosquitos ate us up. Tons of beach towels were there but never found the beach chairs. Would love to rent this one again.

I rented Southern Tides for my graduation weekend (friday - monday) and it did not disappoint! The home was fully equipped for a family or large groups vacations needs (i.e beach towels, bath towels, pots, pans, cups, internet, cable etc), beautifully decorated, and clean. The porches were to die for and there was plenty of space for our party of 13. The pool was dirty upon arrival due to recent storming - which myself and my group was completely fine with given the circumstances - however we did not have to live with a dirty pool for long because someone was sent out Saturday to clean it without me having to call (which goes to show how on top of things tybee cottages is)! The process of renting and reserving the house was pretty straightforward and was not difficult to reach the property manager. We will definitely be utilizing southern Tides and/or another tybee cottage home for future rentals!

Jim and his staff at Tybee Cottages are incredibly professional and very proficient. The cottage was fantastic, and made the week very enjoyable. Amenities were as advertised, location was superb (two beaches within easy walking distance), plenty of room for everyone, and all were extremely satisfied with the stay. Our only issue came early in the week when one of the A/C units decided to stop working (on a 99 degree day!) ... but after a call to the management company, a technician arrived within an hour and fixed the unit (on a major holiday to boot!!).
All in all an excellent experience.

Vintage Beach House

Southern Tides was a wonderful beach home to our family of 16 for a week. After a long drive from Indiana everyone explored the beautifully decorated home and then hit the pool.
We swam morning and night in the pool and went to the beaches daily which were only 2 blocks away. Tybee Bean was our favorite coffee shop on the island. The group also toured Ft. Pulaski and visited Savannah for a day of sightseeing and eating.
Southern Tides was the perfect place for our big family!

Dream Week at Southern Tides

At the suggestion of Jim Heflin, owner of Tybee Cottages, we booked "Southern Tides" for our family of 12: 6 grandchildren this summer (2015). It was a perfect beach house-- full of Southern beach charm, comforts of home, proximity to the beach, river, dining & "town." The pool was great fun, especially for late afternoon & evening swims. The "bunk" room & sleep porch became the favored sleep accomodations for the children. The other bedrooms were comfortable for the adults. The only disappointment to the children and grandchildren alike was that we were "renting" and not "buying" this property!

The rental property was the best part of Tybee. It was so quaint that I did not want to leave to explore! My favorite things were all the cozy rooms and the décor. The young and young at heart will not forget the bunk room. The house has all the extras- beech towels- two refrigerators and even an outdoor sand shower. The location allows you to walk to shops, restaurants, and the beech. Finally, I want to complement Jim Heflin for his southern charm, professionalism, and availability.

Simply the best vacation rental experience for a family group

If I said bad things, I wouldn't have to compete with other renters for this house. But I cannot; it's amazing. We had 14 family members and friends in town, and Southern Tides accommodated everyone very gracefully. Jane Coslick's decor was drooled over, and made everyone comfortable. Having a spare full-size refrigerator in "the bar room" allowed us to stock the regular fridge full of foods and keep the kitchen area lower-traffic. The pool was terrific, and the yard bug-free. Those porches... little hideaways that were conversation areas, and the temperatures were nice enough that the sleeping porch saw some use. Our group was able to relax, enjoy themselves, and literally spent more time inside the house than out, despite sunny days and warm nights.

First, I want to thank Jim Heflin for helping us before, during and after our stay. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Perfect for a large family, like ours. Beautifully decorated! Only about a 3-5 to the beach. And who needs to go on a dolphin tour when you can walk to the ocean and practically swim with them! They were so close that it was crazy!! We were fascinated by how close they were to the shore. Not one problem while we were there and the pool just topped everything off. Hope other renters enjoy it as much as we did.

You will be impressed by the high quality of the furnishings in this home. The kitchen is complete with items that you have at home but are rarely found in a rental i.e. sharp knives!!
The layout of the house provides more than one gathering area (upstairs porch, downstairs porch, living room, upstairs tv room, etc.)so each age group is able to have some space.
The private pool and backyard have plenty of comfortable seating and was large and accommodating.
The house is close to the back river beach which is my choice for small children (calm water and less people).
We thoroughly enjoyed our week and hope to return!

Beyond Our Expectations!!

We rented this house with the purpose of a few families from various states to meet for a week of fun and family reunion/vacation. The beauty and comfort of this house blew us away! From the many porches to the comfortable bedrooms and beautiful pool, we were so pleased to have chosen this property. The front and back beaches are within walking distance along with several restaurants and shops. We had a fantastic experience here, never needed a thing and would recommend this property to anyone!

This cottage allowed us the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful vacation with our entire family of 14 from 4 different states. We loved the way the home was decorated, it was the perfect beach experience! We really enjoyed relaxing by the in-ground pool after a hot day at the beach. This was our 4th trip to Tybee and this was by far the most comfortable house we have stayed in. We definitely recommend this cottage to anyone.

Southern Tides will Carry You Away...!

Our stay at Southern Tides was simply delightful! This house is soothing and charming. We felt like we had walked into a magazine with its bright whites and perfectly placed colors.
The location is ideal - close to Tybrisa (the main strip) for when we wanted action. A short bike ride to AJ's (one of our favorite restaurants!) and a short walk to what felt like a private beach to the back river and ocean. It was amazing.
On top of that,there is everything you could need - a new pool, comfortable beds and a nice kitchen... and SLEEPING PORCHES & a BUNK ROOM! The kids can't stop talking about the bunk room and asking when we're going back. We had 5 young children and 6 adults and had plenty of space.
Now, if only we could stay longer!
I highly recommend this beach house and the genuinely sweet management at Tybee Cottages. Your every need will be addressed - especially the need to kick back and join the locals in ISLAND TIME. :)
(P.S. I saw this recent review on a blog I follow. It looks like the house is getting even better. Wow. )

Five gal friends from across the United Staes finished a 5 day lecture/tour in Savannah with a three day stay at Southern Tides on Tybee Island. The newly renovated house was cheery and bright and even though we experienced some rainy days it was always cheery at Southern Tides. You will not go wrong working with Mr. Jim Heflin of Tybee Cottages...he was super helpful. Jane Coslick did a fabulous job renovating the house. Our memories are extremely bright of the house. Close to the pier and walking distance to the town and restaurants. Put this place on YOUR bucket list. Oh did I mention the swimming pool and the four balconies!!!! ...and the amazing kitchen!!!???
