"My fiancé and I stayed here for three nights recently and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is in a great location - about a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 25 minute drive to downtown Savannah. We really enjoyed getting to eat breakfast on the screened-in porch every morning. The only thing I wish we had known ahead of time is that the curtains are all sheers, including in the bedroom, and there are no curtains on the doors to the porch. This means the cottage gets lots of natural light during the day, but it can make it hard to sleep in. I recommend bringing a sleep mask and a robe. The washer and dryer are small but worked well, and the closet in the bedroom was well-stocked with towels. "

"My family says Palm Cottage looks like me. This was my second time staying here. My grandson and I stayed the week of the July 4th. He (age 11) always wants to stay here so he can use the outdoor shower! I just wish it had a full length mirror somewhere. "

"Tybee is different from southern beach communities. The city does not allow high rises and numerous historic cottages have been saved and turned into rentals. They are part of actual neighborhoods where real people live. There is a picturesque historic fort and a lighthouse. Tybee is not therefore one of the highrise condo towns nor is it a Seaside type upscale planned community. You have to be careful renting. We have been renting from a friendly and helpful guy named Jim Heflin for several years. But he just sold it and we are not sure how his successor will handle things. I made some suggestions to the new manager but never heard back. Palm cottage is perfect for a couple and their child or for just a couple - we have done both. I do not recommend it for more people than that; It is on Second Ave which is a bike path street with little traffic. Palm cottage is a couple blocks and an easy walk or bike ride to the beach. It has a pleasant screen porch, a decent living room, an outdated kitchen which we used every night for cooking fish dinners, an adequate bathroom, a tiny half bath, a queen bed (prefer king but this one is comfortable) and two twin beds off the living room. Don’t go there thinking it is all perfect. Go there if you like ‘character’ and laid back slightly eclectic living. We will go back to Palm Cottage and recommend it highly even with the above comments. It needs a general update but given the choice of no update and the current price or update and a higher price, Im fine with Palm the way it is. Highly recommend Tim’s bikes they deliver to the cottage; the beach is fun to bike on at low tide (only). We stock up on fresh fish at the historic Russo fish market in Savannah and add food at Whole Foods and try to cook all meals at our cottage. You may find a place you like for dining on Tybee but the restaurants and grocery stores are not our favorites. Despite my comments Tybee and Palm are our kind of place. "

"The location is wonderful (just 4 blocks to the beach, and about the same to south end restaurants and shops) and the decor/vibe is lovely. Terrific porch and nice yard. Being particular, the kitchen is in need of a bread knife and some overall organization in the cupboards, and new beach chairs are in order (several are bent or broken). "

"Perfect location. Appreciate people who preserve Tybee cottage history. Loved the screen porch. Home needs a large mirror and another dresser for clothes. The refrigerator needs a thorough cleaning inside and out. We cleaned inside before we used it. We would stay here again and recommend to others. Had a very nice experience on Tybee as usual."

"We loved every minute of staying at the Palm Cottage. The walk to the beach was shorter than we expected. The road barely had traffic other than bikes and golf carts. It was so quiet in the evenings and peaceful. The cottage was clean and exactly what we expected for a cottage built in the 40's. We would definitely stay again. We only had 2 people but a family of 4 could comfortably fit in this home. You won't regret staying here! "

Our 3 year old was delighted at her own space, in the front of the cottage there is a cute little room with 2 twin beds perfect for little ones to play and sleep. The screened in porch area was definitely our favorite place to be after a long day at the beach, perfect if mosquitoes love you and the last thing you want to do is load up on bug spray to enjoy the outdoors at sun down. This home was really perfect for our family of 3 and one of our favorite places to stay to date after coming to tybee for the last 20 years. "I don't have words to describe my rental experience...except perfection! I can't imagine a more perfect rental for 2 people than this. From a clean, well decorated interior to a perfect screened in porch for rainy days, this cottage was just what I was needing for a few days of relaxation. We were a 5-10 minute walk to the beach (depending on how urgent we were to get there) and a short walk away to many of Tybee's wonderful restaurants allowing me to keep my car parked in the driveway the entire vacation! I cannot speak too highly of Jim Heflin. His consideration in helping us avoid major traffic problems in Savannah was above and beyond the call of duty. What could have been a fiasco for us was completely eliminated with Jim's help.

"After an eight year hiatus, I returned to Tybee Island and stayed at the Palm Cottage (1208 Second Avenue). It was a very enjoyable stay and the Palm Cottage was as delightful as I remembered it from years past. The cottage was very clean and well-maintained, as neat as a pin. The cottage is located just a short walk to the beach which makes it so nice. I enjoyed the beach and the pavilion for people watching. The food at Spanky's and Sting Ray's was very good. The visit to Fort Pulaski was very interesting and informational as well. I purchased souvenairs at Waves which has very nice merchandise and I my favorite store in Tybee Island. I had good customer service with Jim Heflin via phone conversation and e-mails. I only wished that I had seen Jim in person. Hopefully, I will return to Tybee Island next year and stay at the quaint Palm Cottage. I definitely would recommend this property to any friend or relative."

"We absolutely adored Palm Cottage! It really feels like another place to call "home". The location is great and the homes surrounding are well kept, making us feel even more comfortable in an otherwise unfamiliar location. The IGA is close by and the beach is fairly close, too. We sat on the screened porch several times. Something we were not prepared for-- the storm sirens sound with even a thunderstorm. Being from Oklahoma (we have tornadoes), this was especially nerve racking. I really wish there would have been some information on a local weather channel to watch or additional information on severe weather in the binder provided in the cottage. Also, there was no additional toilet paper or additional trash bags left for the duration of our stay (5 nights). I'm not sure if that's just something we should have been prepared to bring. Other than those little things, we really enjoyed our stay and loved visiting Tybee! "

"We have stayed at Palm Cottage many times. We absolutely love this classic beach cottage. You are within a five minute walk to the beach and ten minute walk to Tybee's business district which includes shops, restaurants, and bars."

"The cottage was better than the pictures. I loved the Jane Coslick design, it is gorgeously bright and welcoming. Everything worked and is in good "cottage" shape. Loved the comfy slipcovered chairs inside and the quiet space on the back deck.The master bedroom was simply stunning & the bed was very comfortable. Lots of design books, Southern Living and O magazines to look at when having your tea or coffee on the back deck in the morning sun. Access to the beach is a mere few blocks away, easy walk. Two things I would suggest, perhaps its time for a new larger flat screen tv to replace the one in the bedroom & though the cottage was neat, it really could use a thorough cleaning (fans, lights, and especially kitchen & bathroom cupboards & door frames). One of those white Mr.Clean Magic Erasers would do a perfect job. That being said, I would stay at Palm Cottage the next time hands down. Its a real old school cottage with a fantastic history. Lastly, Property Management was perfect, considerate and professional, even leaving a hand written note for my arrival. Until next time.....cheers."

"Palm Cottage is perfect for a couple to get away from the hectic pace of daily life. The cottage was comfy, cute, clean, and tucked in a quiet area near the beach and grocery. We enjoyed the porch, outdoor shower, movies on the TV, beach, sunsets on back river and eating out. The kitchen is perfect for cooking breakfast in. Only negative is the bed.I know they got a new mattress two years ago but this one is spent - it sleeps like a loose hammock :) This place is still our favorite place for just the two of us."

"Truly enjoyed the trip! The cottage was super cute! Few things need fixing, such as the bathroom shower knob. It took me two days taking a cold shower to realize that the knob was incorrect due to it turns all the way around. Also, their is a community rooster that crowd when it is still dark but I got used to him. Other than that I loved the setting, furniture, and location of the cottage!"

"Overall, a very nice getaway! Cottage was located in a quiet neighborhood in a convenient location. Positives: nature abounds - we had chickadees and thrashers nesting on the property; many other birds sang and lizards and squirrels made appearances as well. Easy walk to beaches, wonderful sunsets viewed from Venetian Drive, close to IGA. Cottage was perfect for a couple, loved the screened porch. Negatives: Disappointed in restaurants and shopping options; Sunset Cafe was really the only good restaurant we encountered, shops were not unique and did not feature quality merchandise. We enjoyed kayaking, Fort Pulaski and the Tybee Lighthouse, but felt activities were somewhat limited. In the cottage, the master bathroom toilet sometimes ran at night, we had to purchase our own toilet paper and Kleenex, and the neighbor's dog was a bit noisy at night, but really these items did not deter from our overall wonderful cottage experience!"

Rent a bike to explore the island and relax into the tybee way of life!

Positives:

- fun/ quirky decor, very in keeping with the local feel
- lots of books and magazines to keep you busy while relaxing on....
- a lovely screened in porch
- washer/ dryer and good Wifi
- great space for a couple with a baby, but would also be good with older kids

Negatives:
- the second twin bedroom doesn't have a door, so it would be hard to get young children to bed just off the kitchen/ dining area
- appliances are a little outdated ( all in working order though) and no dishwasher ( not a problem to us, but worth noting)
- seemed just a little bit cluttered ( maybe could do with clearing out some excess without removing the quirky knick knacky charm)

All said, I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to visit Tybee Island!"

(besides, I'm 6'4" and my wife is 5'3"- she can't reach!) We kayaked twice, walked the neighborhood, went to the beach daily. and generally loafed around. This cottage is perfectly situated 3 blocks from the mid-beach area and 2 blocks from the grocery store. The Tybee Cottages folks are great & easy to work with. "My wife and I made this rental for our son and his new wife for their Honeymoon. 26 years ago this month we were married. We had a very modest honeymoon which was special in our own way, but we wanted to give them more. They loved the house, the location, and were thrilled with their stay. "My wife (Sheila) and I really enjoyed our stay. It was so relaxing to enjoy a home made breakfast before strolling to the beach to spend the morning and early afternoon. It had all the conveniences of home including a washer and dryer, which came in handy since I only brought one pair of short pants with me. we also enjoyed sitting out on the deck listening to the cardinals. The outdoors shower is also nice when coming in from the beach. The weather called for daily showers but they never interfered with out plans. We loved the Palm Cottage. We would definitely go back. "My wife and I loved the cottage. It was a great honeymoon destination. Only downside we can think of were the curtains(or the lack of) covering the many windows. We felt very exposed to neighbors and passer byers. Other than that, great vacation."

"My girlfriend and I just had an amazing week at the Palm Cottage. The weather was a bit cloudy but we still really enjoyed ourselves. The Palm Cottage was as advertised. This was our 2nd vacation using Tybee Cottages and we couldn't be happier with what we have seen so far."

"Small cottage perfect for a couple. Short walk to beach, restaurants. Rain on the tin roof is comforting. Nicely decorated but small rooms, though easy to live in for a week. Quiet neighborhood. "

"Palm cottage was the perfct spot for our small family. It is nicely located a couple blocks from the beach on a nice quiet street. Tybee is fun and friendly and we had a great time. The cottage has a porch on two sides, an outdoor shower, a main room with living dining and kitchen in it, a small front bedroom curtained from the main room, then a half bath just off the main room. The full bath is off the bedroom in back. So it works ok but not great for privacy and bath for the persons in the front bedroom. It was fine for us. I left a few suggestions for the owner but none worth mentioning except the place could really use a dishwasher. Nice manager, easy to work with. We recommend (though please dont book next summer as we want to return!)"
