Wonderful wee cottage

This is the second time I have stayed in Palm Cottage. It’s extremely comfortable with a screened in porch and small side yard for sitting and grilling. Even has an outdoor shower which is a plus for me in the summer. It’s best suited to a couple as you can close the bedroom door. The second bedroom just has a privacy curtain and twin beds- suitable for children. The house was clean with an ample supply of towels. I highly recommend this property. Short walk to the beach and small IGA grocery store.

Adorable Cottage for Two

My childhood friend and I had a wonderful few days together in this well-furnished vintage cottage. The beds were comfortable with plenty of extra pillows and blankets. There were lots of extra towels, and the kitchen had everything necessary and more. Close to the beach. The neighborhood was well maintained - perfect for walking and biking. Grocery store two blocks away. It was a comfortable drive to Savannah for great shopping and dining. We would recommend Palm Cottage.

We had a wonderful stay at the Palm Cottage! We arrived the last week in July so as soon as we opened the door, the AC was blasting and couldn't have felt better! The cottage was everything and more! Beautiful decor, extremely and I mean extremely clean, and just wonderfully kept. It was BEAUTIFUL! Everything was provided, we only needed food of course :) Much bigger than what I expected it to be. My young teenagers enjoyed their private part of the cottage w their own beds. The books, games and such were a wonderful addition which they enjoyed. Such a short walk to the beach and the IGA. I do recommend reserving a golf cart as soon as you arrive. Tybee Golf Carts rental were very friendly and accomodating. We found it the best way to see the entire island, especially the lighthouse, and getting to most restaurants (especially Huckapoo's).
If I may, one upgrade I suggest (small, but needed) is to put new temperature dials on the stovetop. They have all but disappeared. When using multiple burners, it became difficult remembering how hot the settings were of each item. But, overall an incredible stay! I highly recommend! A wonderful vacation and lots of memeories made for our family! Do not look elsewhere.

This quaint cottage was perfect for our family of 4. The screened in porch was relaxing and a great way to enjoy the island atmosphere. My family enjoyed every minute at the cottage and we plan on returning again. The cottage may look small next to other rental houses around it, but it felt spacious and functional. I recommend anyone wanting to enjoy the island life to stay at this perfect little cottage. My family voted this vacation the best one so far and it's hard to please teenagers.

Lovely stay in a cute cottage

My fiancé and I stayed here for three nights recently and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is in a great location - about a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 25 minute drive to downtown Savannah. We really enjoyed getting to eat breakfast on the screened-in porch every morning. The only thing I wish we had known ahead of time is that the curtains are all sheers, including in the bedroom, and there are no curtains on the doors to the porch. This means the cottage gets lots of natural light during the day, but it can make it hard to sleep in. I recommend bringing a sleep mask and a robe. The washer and dryer are small but worked well, and the closet in the bedroom was well-stocked with towels.

my kind of place

Tybee is different from southern beach communities. The city does not allow high rises and numerous historic cottages have been saved and turned into rentals. They are part of actual neighborhoods where real people live. There is a picturesque historic fort and a lighthouse. Tybee is not therefore one of the highrise condo towns nor is it a Seaside type upscale planned community. You have to be careful renting. We have been renting from a friendly and helpful guy named Jim Heflin for several years. But he just sold it and we are not sure how his successor will handle things. I made some suggestions to the new manager but never heard back. Palm cottage is perfect for a couple and their child or for just a couple - we have done both. I do not recommend it for more people than that; It is on Second Ave which is a bike path street with little traffic. Palm cottage is a couple blocks and an easy walk or bike ride to the beach. It has a pleasant screen porch, a decent living room, an outdated kitchen which we used every night for cooking fish dinners, an adequate bathroom, a tiny half bath, a queen bed (prefer king but this one is comfortable) and two twin beds off the living room. Don’t go there thinking it is all perfect. Go there if you like ‘character’ and laid back slightly eclectic living. We will go back to Palm Cottage and recommend it highly even with the above comments. It needs a general update but given the choice of no update and the current price or update and a higher price, Im fine with Palm the way it is. Highly recommend Tim’s bikes they deliver to the cottage; the beach is fun to bike on at low tide (only). We stock up on fresh fish at the historic Russo fish market in Savannah and add food at Whole Foods and try to cook all meals at our cottage. You may find a place you like for dining on Tybee but the restaurants and grocery stores are not our favorites. Despite my comments Tybee and Palm are our kind of place.

The location is wonderful (just 4 blocks to the beach, and about the same to south end restaurants and shops) and the decor/vibe is lovely. Terrific porch and nice yard. Being particular, the kitchen is in need of a bread knife and some overall organization in the cupboards, and new beach chairs are in order (several are bent or broken).

Perfect location. Appreciate people who preserve Tybee cottage history. Loved the screen porch. Home needs a large mirror and another dresser for clothes. The refrigerator needs a thorough cleaning inside and out. We cleaned inside before we used it. We would stay here again and recommend to others. Had a very nice experience on Tybee as usual.

We stayed at the Palm Cottage and found it to be centrally located to all the things we wanted to do in Tybee. It was .3 miles to the beach. It was less than .5 miles to the restaurants we walked to for breakfast and dinner. A grocery store was close by too. While the cottage was very comfortable the beds were amazing. The beds in this cottage were great quality. We loved the decor and cozy feeling.

We loved every minute of staying at the Palm Cottage. The walk to the beach was shorter than we expected. The road barely had traffic other than bikes and golf carts. It was so quiet in the evenings and peaceful. The cottage was clean and exactly what we expected for a cottage built in the 40's. We would definitely stay again. We only had 2 people but a family of 4 could comfortably fit in this home. You won't regret staying here!

Palm Cottage is so charming and perfect for a getaway. The house is neat and tidy. We loved sitting on the screened porch and taking our showers outdoors! The location is perfect for biking, beaching, and walking.
Small area for improvement: while the kitchen is relatively well-stocked, it would be great to update some of the items (pots/pans, spatulas, knives) and tidy up the cabinets.

I had a wonderful week at Palm Cottage; it was so comfortable and tastefully decorated, I felt immediately at home. The large porch was my favorite place, though there were also many cozy places to sit inside when it was raining. It was close to the beach, to the IGA, to A.J.s Dockside, so I never had to get in my car the whole week. Jim at Tybee Cottages was responsive to my questions and very easy to work with. I would come back here any time.

A couple of blocks from everything important—the IGA, breakfast, dinner, or the beach. Great area for walking and on the bike path. we cannot say enough about how great our stay was at the Palm Cottage. The home was clean and so welcoming for a long travel from St. Louis. Our 3 year old was delighted at her own space, in the front of the cottage there is a cute little room with 2 twin beds perfect for little ones to play and sleep. The screened in porch area was definitely our favorite place to be after a long day at the beach, perfect if mosquitoes love you and the last thing you want to do is load up on bug spray to enjoy the outdoors at sun down. This home was really perfect for our family of 3 and one of our favorite places to stay to date after coming to tybee for the last 20 years. Thank you to Jim for making everything so easy, we will be renting again very soon!

Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior! This cottage is so much bigger than it appears, and the interior design is just fabulous!!!! I was still discovering new items after the first few days. Two beautiful bedrooms, a bath and a half, and a fully equipped kitchen gave us a lovely home away from home. A short walk to the beach, as well as the shops and restaurants, friend folks every where, perfect weather - what more could one ask for?! We'll be back!

I don't have words to describe my rental experience...except perfection! I can't imagine a more perfect rental for 2 people than this. From a clean, well decorated interior to a perfect screened in porch for rainy days, this cottage was just what I was needing for a few days of relaxation. We were a 5-10 minute walk to the beach (depending on how urgent we were to get there) and a short walk away to many of Tybee's wonderful restaurants allowing me to keep my car parked in the driveway the entire vacation! It was sheer perfection that I plan on repeating next year!

We really liked the Palm Cottage. We have stayed in other places on Tybee, and unlike many houses labeled cottages, the Palm Cottage is a true cottage, which for us was a plus. We really enjoyed the screened porch and adjacent deck, spending most of our time there.
I cannot speak too highly of Jim Heflin. His consideration in helping us avoid major traffic problems in Savannah was above and beyond the call of duty. What could have been a fiasco for us was completely eliminated with Jim's help.
We are likely to rent the Palm Cottage again in the future, and we would recommend it to all.

After an eight year hiatus, I returned to Tybee Island and stayed at the Palm Cottage (1208 Second Avenue). It was a very enjoyable stay and the Palm Cottage was as delightful as I remembered it from years past. The cottage was very clean and well-maintained, as neat as a pin. The cottage is located just a short walk to the beach which makes it so nice. I enjoyed the beach and the pavilion for people watching. The food at Spanky's and Sting Ray's was very good. The visit to Fort Pulaski was very interesting and informational as well. I purchased souvenairs at Waves which has very nice merchandise and I my favorite store in Tybee Island. I had good customer service with Jim Heflin via phone conversation and e-mails. I only wished that I had seen Jim in person. Hopefully, I will return to Tybee Island next year and stay at the quaint Palm Cottage. I definitely would recommend this property to any friend or relative.

Girls Getaway!

We absolutely adored Palm Cottage! It really feels like another place to call "home". The location is great and the homes surrounding are well kept, making us feel even more comfortable in an otherwise unfamiliar location. The IGA is close by and the beach is fairly close, too. We sat on the screened porch several times. Something we were not prepared for-- the storm sirens sound with even a thunderstorm. Being from Oklahoma (we have tornadoes), this was especially nerve racking. I really wish there would have been some information on a local weather channel to watch or additional information on severe weather in the binder provided in the cottage. Also, there was no additional toilet paper or additional trash bags left for the duration of our stay (5 nights). I'm not sure if that's just something we should have been prepared to bring. Other than those little things, we really enjoyed our stay and loved visiting Tybee!

The cottage was better than the pictures. I loved the Jane Coslick design, it is gorgeously bright and welcoming. Everything worked and is in good "cottage" shape. Loved the comfy slipcovered chairs inside and the quiet space on the back deck.The master bedroom was simply stunning & the bed was very comfortable. Lots of design books, Southern Living and O magazines to look at when having your tea or coffee on the back deck in the morning sun. Access to the beach is a mere few blocks away, easy walk. Two things I would suggest, perhaps its time for a new larger flat screen tv to replace the one in the bedroom & though the cottage was neat, it really could use a thorough cleaning (fans, lights, and especially kitchen & bathroom cupboards & door frames). One of those white Mr.Clean Magic Erasers would do a perfect job. That being said, I would stay at Palm Cottage the next time hands down. Its a real old school cottage with a fantastic history. Lastly, Property Management was perfect, considerate and professional, even leaving a hand written note for my arrival. Until next time.....cheers.

Palm Cottage is perfect for a couple to get away from the hectic pace of daily life. The cottage was comfy, cute, clean, and tucked in a quiet area near the beach and grocery. We enjoyed the porch, outdoor shower, movies on the TV, beach, sunsets on back river and eating out. The kitchen is perfect for cooking breakfast in. Only negative is the bed.I know they got a new mattress two years ago but this one is spent - it sleeps like a loose hammock :) This place is still our favorite place for just the two of us.

We enjoyed our stay at The Palm Cottage and Tybee Island/ beach. It was walking distance to the beach and local food store. It could use a good dusting of the lamps, and ceiling fans. While we were there the lawn was cut. Not sure why because all they did was blow dust and dirt onto the covered, screened in porch. Instead the grounds could use a good raking, (landscaping) so guests could enjoy the outdoor space.

We have rented several cottages on Tybee Island but Palm Cottage was our favorite. It had everything we needed and was in our favorite location on the island...close to everything. We love that you never have to get in your car. Bike or walk to the beach, restaurants, shops and the grocery store is right around the corner. We will definitely stay at Palm Cottage again!

Truly enjoyed the trip! The cottage was super cute! Few things need fixing, such as the bathroom shower knob. It took me two days taking a cold shower to realize that the knob was incorrect due to it turns all the way around. Also, their is a community rooster that crowd when it is still dark but I got used to him. Other than that I loved the setting, furniture, and location of the cottage!

I love this little cottage, it's the perfect size for a couple and just adorable. Clean, well supplied. Property managers were very helpful. We loved the location and using the bikes. The island is one of our favorites to visit. Not far from Savannah where we had the best time taking in the culture and atmosphere.

Just What I Needed!

My stay at the Palm Cottage was just what I needed. Although it rained or was overcast everyday and I didn't get a chance to go to the beach, I rested and relaxed and spent the time writing in my journal, sitting on the porch and just "being". After months of working without a break it was wonderful just to get away. It was quiet and I love the shabby chic style of the cottage. It was wonderful and I would highly recommend it to anyone who just needs some time to relax and enjoy Tybee.

We spent 3 nights in the Palm Cottage and loved it. Jane Coslicks first cottage was enchanting and wonderful. We wish it had a pool? It was tough hearing the neighbors diving into their pool.

Overall, a very nice getaway! Cottage was located in a quiet neighborhood in a convenient location. Positives: nature abounds - we had chickadees and thrashers nesting on the property; many other birds sang and lizards and squirrels made appearances as well. Easy walk to beaches, wonderful sunsets viewed from Venetian Drive, close to IGA. Cottage was perfect for a couple, loved the screened porch. Negatives: Disappointed in restaurants and shopping options; Sunset Cafe was really the only good restaurant we encountered, shops were not unique and did not feature quality merchandise. We enjoyed kayaking, Fort Pulaski and the Tybee Lighthouse, but felt activities were somewhat limited. In the cottage, the master bathroom toilet sometimes ran at night, we had to purchase our own toilet paper and Kleenex, and the neighbor's dog was a bit noisy at night, but really these items did not deter from our overall wonderful cottage experience!

We ended up at the last second being moved over to a different property due to something unforeseen so unfortunately I cannot give it a proper review. That being said we were properly taken care of by Jim and the folks at Tybee Cottages and loved the cottage house we did stay in. Jim was very responsive answering questions and the whole experience was great. Will look to do it again.

We loved being in a such a pretty cottage as it gave us so much more freedom and room. Palm Cottage was absolutely charming and we would stay there again. The location was perfect; close to everything but off the main road. We had a wonderful time and hope to return some day.

We walked straight into palm cottage and immediately felt like we were home.
Indeed it is a sweet little cottage on a quiet tree lined street, and only a few minutes walk from the beach.
Rent a bike to explore the island and relax into the tybee way of life!
Positives:
- fun/ quirky decor, very in keeping with the local feel
- lots of books and magazines to keep you busy while relaxing on....
- a lovely screened in porch
- washer/ dryer and good Wifi
- great space for a couple with a baby, but would also be good with older kids
Negatives:
- the second twin bedroom doesn't have a door, so it would be hard to get young children to bed just off the kitchen/ dining area
- appliances are a little outdated ( all in working order though) and no dishwasher ( not a problem to us, but worth noting)
- seemed just a little bit cluttered ( maybe could do with clearing out some excess without removing the quirky knick knacky charm)
All said, I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to visit Tybee Island!

The location was fantastic with all areas on Tybee within walking distance. The cottage itself was basic but all necessary amenities were included/available. It is an older cottage with plenty of charm.

We had an amazing stay at Palm Cottage for our Honeymoon. The cottage was exactly as described on the rental website (clean, cozy, nicely decorated, and actually a little bigger than expected). The beach and restaurants were a minute's walk away. Great memories and a perfect relaxing atmosphere; would highly recommend both Tybee Island and the Palm Cottage to honeymooners and families alike.

We stayed at the beginning of October and the weather was fabulous! The first thing I did was open the transom windows & turned off the a/c. A must! (besides, I'm 6'4" and my wife is 5'3"- she can't reach!) We kayaked twice, walked the neighborhood, went to the beach daily. and generally loafed around. This cottage is perfectly situated 3 blocks from the mid-beach area and 2 blocks from the grocery store. The Tybee Cottages folks are great & easy to work with. This is THE place we try to rent and you should, too!

I loved this cottage! It was so cute, comfortable, and they thought of everything! 2 block walk to the beach. They even had beach chairs and sand buckets, and an outside shower for sand. The Honeymoon we never had

My wife and I made this rental for our son and his new wife for their Honeymoon. 26 years ago this month we were married. We had a very modest honeymoon which was special in our own way, but we wanted to give them more. They loved the house, the location, and were thrilled with their stay. This was a gift to us to see their joy and happiness. Also Jim Heflin the rental agent we dealt with was GREAT in every way. He made everything easy and helped us assure they had a great experience. He was the BEST!!!

My wife (Sheila) and I really enjoyed our stay. It was so relaxing to enjoy a home made breakfast before strolling to the beach to spend the morning and early afternoon. It had all the conveniences of home including a washer and dryer, which came in handy since I only brought one pair of short pants with me. we also enjoyed sitting out on the deck listening to the cardinals. The outdoors shower is also nice when coming in from the beach. The weather called for daily showers but they never interfered with out plans. We loved the Palm Cottage. We would definitely go back.
