Recent Reviews About This Property

"We had a wonderful family gathering. We were there to celebrate oldest son and his wife who are expecting a son the end of this month. They live in Savannah and friends gave them a baby shower in town.
Island Dog Cottage is a dog friendly rental that I would enjoy staying in again. It is close to the beach, shopping and located in a very friendly area.
I met a new owner and neighbor to that area and enjoyed talking with her. The three porches and the outdoor shower were a huge hit. The house was clean and well stocked with the necessary paper products.
We did have an issue with getting in, but only because we had the wrong code. Minor problem. Definitely a thumbs up stay."

Marilou S. from Pulaski, 04/06/2023

"My family and I enjoyed our week on Tybee in this great cottage. It had plenty of space to stretch out and the area was very walkable for our dogs. We had plenty of parking for our small boat to cruise the creeks in the afternoon, and checkout the downtown at night."

Donald K. from Cocoa Beach, 01/02/2023

So happy you enjoyed your stay! Hope to have you back as soon as possible! Thanks so much, Denise and the TC Team

"The house was charming. It had everything we needed. The property manager is very nice and attentive to all needs. "

Maria R. from DENTON, 07/26/2022

HI Maria, So sorry the home did not seem to be cleaned to your standards. We certainly want your stay to be a 5 star in every area and will address with the housekeeping manager. THanks so much Denise and the TC Team

"We really enjoyed our stay at Island Dog Cottage and were so thankful to find a place that welcomed our dog. The property really has that island easy breezy feel. The outdoor shower and the daybed on the screened porch were very popular with us and we loved the quality propane grill and handy hammock. Management had to come in and check on something while we were there but they were polite and quick and worked around our schedule. The beach was super easy to access and is far enough north to not be crazy busy all day. The Beach Pier is only a 20 minute beach walk away and Raw Ingredients offers some really yummy food! On the down side- The back yard desperately needs treated for mosquitoes (although we know bugs are part of the beach life). And the critters are accessing the attic space because we could hear them scurrying around up there at night. Also, the main bathroom door really needs to close tighter since it opens right on to the living room. All in all- we had a lovely time and can't wait to come back again!"

Mary M. from Mooresville, 07/15/2022

"The house was perfect for our family of eight. It had plenty of room, nicely decorated, and was well stocked with supplies. The house was very close to the beach. We would definitely stay there again."

from Knoxville, 06/27/2022

"I knew when looking for properties on Tybee Island this was the house for us and it didn't disappoint. There were 8 of us gals so plenty of bedroom space and bathrooms to meet our needs.

The house decor and furniture and colors was just like the pictures and very clean. It was well stocked with all of the necessary needs plus beach chairs and towels and the location to the beach was so close which made us 70 year old ladies able to walk there easily. We were minutes from the restaurants and stores and it this area was easily walkable either by beach or street side if you wanted to. The grocery store a couple blocks away. The location of the house was perfect in every way.

We had 2 small requests after arriving and the property managers fulfilled both of them right away. They were very gracious answering questions we had in the months leading up to the trip and always replied very fast with answers for us.

The large wrap around screened porch was a huge hit on upper level as we enjoyed it immensely and the outside shower in lower level was unique and there was also, another sitting area to sit at and enjoy. The sundeck was a huge plus, as well.

Overall, this house had everything you could possibly want!!!! Definitely be back. What a great 5 days we had on Tybee and the weather was beyond perfect the whole time.
"

Kathryn M. from Independence, 05/07/2022

"We Loved-Loved this rental! Rental management easy to work with, super friendly and quick to respond, to our questions. House was extremely clean, well supplied with dishes, cups, silverware, pots and pans.
Lower level area was so cozy and cute, the out door shower was a big hit! House was decorated so cute! Upper level had plenty of room.
The house was super close to beach, quick walk there.
What was the down side? NOTHING!!! Highly recommend this home!"

Lorna I. from Lilburn, 09/01/2021

"This was our first visit to Tybee and we are completely hooked. The cottage was perfect for our large group and the separate downstairs area was great for the teens. House had ample room for everyone to spread out and the outdoor spaces were wonderful. The outdoor shower was a favorite. Check in and check out could not have been easier. Kitchen was a little small for cooking for large groups and the appliances could use some updating but the atmosphere and proximity to the beach were stellar. Already looking forward to a return trip. "

Carrie C. from Clayton, 08/16/2021

Cute place!

"My family enjoyed our stay here. We loved the dog theme throughout the house. It’s a nice place to stay for a family getaway. It’s within walking distance to the beach, the pier, the grocery store, and the restaurants and shops in the downtown part of Tybee. "

Stephanie E. from Georgia, 07/31/2021

"Clean, comfortable, spacious but cozy! Our family of 7 thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Historic Tybee home that reminded me of our childhood days/stays at friends and family cottages. Loved everything about it. The coastal beach decor, artwork, spacious outdoor shower downstairs, huge porch upstairs were among our favorite things about this wonderful home! We’ll be back!"

Margaret H. from Savannah, 07/09/2021

"Island Dog Cottage was just as advertised! The house has a cozy, beach feel on both levels. The upstairs is comfortable and homey with plenty of seating and eating space. Even the beds were comfortable! The downstairs gives you an “outdoor” space that’s indoors and the outdoor shower and washing machine are a great bonus. The owners also supplied beach chairs and a wagon to take to the beach, which is close. You do have to walk one street over to get beach access, but this is common in Tybee. Would definitely return."

Sherrill H. from Acworth, 05/17/2021

"Our stay with Tybee Cottages was worth every penny!! There is plenty of room, a short walk to the beach and the town. We have zero complaints. I will definitely be staying again! "

Monica R. from Atlanta, 05/12/2021

"Tybee is fantastic during the off-season, and Island Dog Cottage was spacious enough for six of us to live primarily indoors, although we used the screened in porch every day. The cottage is centrally located to everything - we walked and biked the entire time. "

Lisa H. from Chattanooga, 01/05/2021

Hi Lisa, So happy you took advantage of that amazing porch and the location of Island Dog! Come see us again soon, Denise and the TC team

"The vacation rental was very clean and huge. Lots of room for the 6 of us. Plenty of space to hang out all together or have some room apart. A very short walk to the beach. "

Misty A. from , 08/20/2020

"We very much enjoyed our stay at the Island Dog Cottage! The kitchen was very well stocked and all bathrooms had plenty of towels. You can't beat the short walk to the beach! Moreover, the outdoor shower was a plus!"

Marion S. from , 07/07/2020

"The house itself is old so therefore it has old trimmings and do not expect it to be anything else. But it has wonderful character and lots of entertaining space. It was perfect for my large family of 8 and one dog. It has steps but that did not bother us but if you have trouble with steps, this is not the house for you. I was most pleased with the rental agent’s response to some concerns during our stay. The television did not work properly and within one day we received a new one! And when the A/C went out on Sunday morning, it was fixed within hours! Unfortunately, issues sometimes happen while staying in rental homes.
And although we did have to contact the rental company, which I hate to do, the response and action here was excellent."

Susan N. from Milford, 07/02/2020

"Perfect for a beach visit whether you choose a leisurely stroll, a lazy afternoon of sitting and people watching, or a tasty beach picnic under sunny skies...close enough to Savanah to experience all the historical essence and architectural beauty of a lovely city teeming with life and southern charm..."

Tawni P. from , 02/17/2020

"This was our fourth time renting through Tybee Cottages and second time renting Island Dog Cottage! This is a great house for a large family. There was plenty of room on both levels for all of us. We so enjoyed the screened in porch area, outside shower, and the proximity to the beach. We vacationed over Labor Day Weekend and had a mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Dorian. Jim Heflin (Tybee Cottages) gives great customer service and always a pleasure to work with!"

Trish P. from Blue Ridge, 09/19/2019

"The house was clean and very roomy. The kitchen is a little small and there is no over head light so if you are cooking at night it may get dark. The kitchen had everything needed to cook and eat. Plenty of utensils and cookware. The screened in porches were the best. The two bedrooms downstairs with half bath and washer dryer attached to one are nice also just a little awkward with the three outside doors that I felt I should lock at night therefore leaving the 2nd bedroom with no access to potty at night unless you all have a key, but that would not deter me from staying here again. The enclosed downstairs area was absolutly fabulous for storing beach stuff and to hang out when returning from beach to cool off and get the sand off. The outside shower was a favorite of all of us with hot and cold water. Plenty of towels/beach and bath. the location to beach access was great as well. Although we had to walk to sidewalk toward road then down beach access road. It wasn't really a bad walk. Plenty of parking for at least 4 cars. I would book this place again if we return to the area. "

Amelia W. from Landrum, 07/31/2019

"Amazing house just steps from the beach. We loved the quaint feel of such a big house. The screened in porch was our favorite place to hang out. Would definitely stay again. Thank you."

michieal r. from whites creek, 06/26/2019

"Very good."

Michael P. from Fairfax, 10/23/2018

"This was a big group - three generations of a family - who came to Tybee on the first anniversary of our mother/grandmother/great-grandmother's passing to spread her ashes at the place where she lived for the happiest 25 years of her life. The cottage was exactly what we needed. It was important for several family members to bring their dogs, and the configuration of rooms/beds matched our sleeping arrangement needs. Everyone loved the cottage; in particular several people specifically praised the Traditional Tybee Home experience, but with an updated beach-design flair. "

Carl J. from , 09/13/2018

"This house was colorful, cozy and very comfortable. It was a little smaller than I expected but because of the great porch and downstairs area, we all a place to perch. The distance to the beach as well as restaurants was very convenient. We would definitely stay her again."

Sherri K. from Decatur, 09/06/2018

"We loved being able to take some time, enjoy being with family and enjoy the beach. It was definitely an extra bonus to be able to have our dog with us. She enjoyed meeting the dog across the lane. The kitchen was a little tight but the big pantry helped with that. Enjoyed our time on the large screened porch. Easy access to the beach. Will definitely book again."

Lyn M. from Savannah, 08/21/2018

"The cottage is very cozy. A great "beachy" feel. It was very clean and everything we needed was included. Plenty of towels, the beds were comfortable, easy beach access. "

from , 07/31/2018

"Vacation rental experience was very easy. Check-in and check-out very simple. "

Ron S. from , 07/19/2018

"This home does not show how great it is online. It was so so clean, had everything you need for a fantastic stay, including tons of cookware and silverware. The towels provided were plush and lovely. The screened in back porch, with daybed, was used every single day by someone. The house is full of personal touches, that makes your stay truly feel like home. The outdoor shower, below, was a favorite as it was private, hot, and clean. The entire place was just a delight! You are so close to the beach, and we felt very safe. The beach was beautiful, and clean also in this area. Just loved it!"

Stephani D. from Easley, 07/11/2018

Thank you Island Dog Cottage

"What a wonderful cottage and place to stay. Clean, close to beach, outdoor shower and beautiful screened in room. This was our second stay and we will be back for many more. Tybee Island is a great place to visit and Island Dog Cottage makes it even more special. Thank you to all who made it possible. Job well done. Only one regret, I wish I would have written this review on our first visit."

Mariann S. from St. Louis, 08/29/2017

"Once again pure excellence. Looking forward to next year. "

Liz T. from , 06/14/2017

"This house is just as beautiful as the pictures! The location is perfect and walking distance to everything. The house included everything you may need (kitchen items, beach chairs, towels etc). I cant wait to rent it again!"

Alycia W. from , 09/07/2016

"We loved the home it was very comfortable. We had a wonderful time. Looking forward to future stays. "

Liz T. from , 06/01/2016

"We had a wonderful time at this Cottage! It had everything we needed. We grilled fish for dinner every night and spent a lot of time lounging around all of the very comfortable space. It was very close to the beach and restaurants/shops. I would highly recommend.

My only complaint is the downstairs rooms are musty. I, myself, would have had a hard time sleeping in those rooms. The people who slept down there did not complain, but if you are sensitive to musty odors, you would not like it. Anything less than 5 stars would be related to that."

Tiffanie R. from , 04/27/2016

"I rented this house for a girls weekend over Labor Day weekend and could not have asked for a better place to stay. It easily accommodated the 10 of us and was in a great location. The screened in porch was awesome especially during a rainy afternoon. The property manager was easy to work with and provided quick responses to my questions. I would definitely recommend Island Dog Cottage!"

Morgan R. from , 09/10/2015

"Absolutely wonderful. The home was everything I expected and more. Very close to the beach with easy access. Large rooms and the screened in porch was outstanding. Comfortable furniture and well equipped kitchen."

Mariann S. from , 08/18/2015

"We loved Island Dog Cottage. We found it quite comfortable for our family of eleven. Being so close to the beach without having to cross any streets was a plus with children. It was attractive and welcoming when we arrived and proved to be just the right fit for us. We would come again. "

from swannanoa, 08/17/2015

"We loved Island Dog Cottage and Tybee Island. The cottage was clean and nicely furnished with cute beachy and dog(bench shaped like a dog bone/doggie knobs on the bathroom cabinet, and more ) decor. The screened porch was fantastic. One of our party had to put in some work time(unfortunately), and loved the porch as her "office" while the rest of us enjoyed early morning coffee and evening relaxation porch time. The layout worked well for our 5 adults and 2 small children and one cockapoo. The area was quiet and an easy walk to the beach for all. The grocery store as well as some good eateries, (including ice cream place by Sting Rays restaurant) and even the pier were an easy stroll away, but with minimal congestion. Being on the beach side of Butler was a definite advantage, though Butler has good crosswalk areas if you are walking to eat or just stroll. We went on Mike's dolphin boat cruise and had dinner at Coco's on the site of the cruise The food, atmosphere, and service were great! The cruise was well operated and we saw many dolphins as well as other interesting sites and facts of the area. We would return to this beach and house and recommend to a friend. The owner was great at promptly answering any questions and I feel would have been "on it" had we had any problems, which we did not. We all had an enjoyable week with the 4 year old in our party expressing everyone's feelings: "but I don't WANT to go home today." :) "

from North Augusta, 08/10/2015

"We had a great stay at the Island Dog Cottage! We loved the décor and the great choice of sitting areas. We love to gather and talk/play games, and there was plenty of room for that. The screened in porch was fantastic.
That being said, we did have one problem. One of the downstairs bedrooms had a real moisture problem. It was so humid, the sheets felt damp in there. It was very uncomfortable. The air conditioner cooled it adequately, but there is a humidity issue. My daughters finally had to come upstairs and sleep on the couches.
All in all, we had a good stay!"

Cathey J. from Lewisburg, 07/28/2015

"Proximity to the beach was great. The kitchen was very small and rather difficult to prepare meals for 10 people. The living area was also too small for 10 adults to comfortably enjoy. We experienced some leaking from the upstairs bathroom and in the downstairs bathroom as well which dampened the floor to the adjoining bedroom. Night time brought out some extremely large cockroaches, and we were very disappointed to learn that dogs are not allowed on the beach at Tybee at any time. We thought with a name like "Island Dog Cottage", dogs were welcome. Overall, we had a good time with good friends. The little hiccups make for more entertaining stories."

Susan L. from , 07/27/2015

"We had a great time. Alot of beach things to use including a wagon! "

Susan L. from , 07/02/2015

"My daughters, mother, sister and I spent a wonderful weekend here at the Island Dog! We had an incredible time; the cottage is perfectly situated close to the beach (5 minute walk tops), yet far enough off the main streets as to be quiet and enjoyable away from the crowds. It was also close enough to the market that we could walk there, as well as walk to the beach shops. Had we stayed longer, we might have even been able to see a celebrity or two! Tybee is a beautiful place with friendly people, beautiful beaches, and a variety of great restaurants. There is even a nice church across the street. We couldn't have chosen a better place than the Island Dog-comfortable, homey, and welcoming. Kick off your flip-flops and lounge a while on the spacious porches. We highly recommend it! "

Marlena S. from , 04/28/2015

"His house was amazing! Close to the beach and shops, plenty of room for all 12 of us. Plus extra room to move around and find privacy if needed. Perfect for our family of 9-83 years old!! And the owner is just a phone call away if you need anything!
"

Melinda B. from , 08/04/2014

"We had a blissfully relaxing two weeks at the Island Dog Cottage. It is a charming, old-fashioned, beachy cottage, comfy and charmingly furnished, just the right kind of atmosphere for a beach visit. "

Meta C. from Washington, 06/30/2014

"Although the weather wasn't tremendous, we really loved the house and our time on Tybee and Savannah. A great house. Beautiful location. Great decor and charm. Can't wait to go back."

Rich M. from Niagara Falls, 05/08/2014

"Our family loved this home. Sunny front deck was perfect for me and the breezy oversized screened ib back porch for my husband. We enjoyed just being in the house. Very comfortable. "

Sue B. from , 04/16/2014

"The upstairs of the house is very nice but the downstairs rooms are musty and damp. I would have also liked to have seen larger cookware for the kitchen-if the house can sleep 12, why can the kitchen only serve 4-6? Overall, the cottage was very nice and I would stay there again-only upstairs! And bring some bug spray! We were attacked by mosquitos everytime we left the screened-in porch!"

from , 08/26/2013

"Loved the screened in porch!!! Roomy with comfy seating and picnic table, it made up for a rainy day very easily."

Ann K. from Charleston, 07/15/2013

"We loved this house - especially the screened porch. Less that a block to the beach and great area downstairs to put all of the beach gear at night. There was something for everyone - games, books, bikes, boogie boards even buckets & shovels for the little ones. Nice towels & linens and well equipped kitchen and was perfect location for walks to the grocery store & pier & dinning out. You won't need to go to a grocery store off the island. The local IGA had everything and nice people too.."

Marie H. from , 07/08/2013

"This is a great house. Neither too big nor too small. We had six adults and four children, plus two more adults with us periodically and it never felt overcrowded, even though it's not a big house. The screened porch is wonderful. All of the furniture was nice without being precious. We had to move a few breakable things out of reach of small hands, but not too much.

The only place that got cramped was the kitchen. Things need to be moved off of the counters so there's some room to cook. Also, you can get some decent inexpensive knives at Target or Ikea that don't bend when you try to use them. That was very frustrating.

My daughter loved the bunk bed, but a rail really needs to be installed on the side. I felt nervous up there with no rail and my daughter fell from the top bunk one night. She's fine and didn't even remember in the morning, but a simple wooden rail bolted into the side would have prevented it.

Another little house keeping suggestion: take out the plug in the tub and just use a rubber stopper. It drains itself in the time it takes to bathe two kids.

I didn't spend much time downstairs, but our family staying down there were fine with it.

It's a close walk to the beach and close to the IGA for emergency grocery runs (though you probably want to do your main shopping at the Publix on the way in)

We were very happy with our time here and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay on Tybee Island. "

Sarah T. from , 05/22/2013

"Island Dog Cottage is a nice place. The commons spaces (living room and porch) are really great and plenty big. A couple of bedrooms are a bit small, as was the kitchen, but well appointed. "

from , 05/21/2013

"I stayed at Island Dog Cottage in early April with some friends & we absolutely loved it! The location was perfect, and we just loved the decor. The porches were great & the outside shower is a nice bonus.

I would definitely recommend this house to anyone for a beach trip. We didn't want to leave!"

"We had a lovely time together and the cottage had a nice set-up. While there was plenty of dishes, we found cooking equipment in the kitchen lacking."

"My family and I stayed at Island Dog Cottage (IDC) in 2004 and loved our experience then and having the opportunity to revisit that experience this past weekend was an unexpected, but welcome treat. IDC's size, layout, and location make it extremely easy to enjoy. On both visits, we've had young children, some as long as 18 months. Having beach access just a short walk away is perfect for going out to enjoy the beach for a few hours, but also close enough to return if someone is tired before everyone else. We love Tybee and we love IDC - we even tried to rent IDC several times before in years past when we returned to the island, but this is the first time it was available since our first visit in 2004. We look forward to returning again soon and we hope that IDC is again available at that time. Thank you for helping us make another set of wonderful memories!"

"wonderful place! loved everthing.1 problem, because I have mini dachshunds, they were unable to get up and down the steps. Otherwise it is a great place!"

"We stay at Tybee every year for vacation and pick a different house each year. This year our family of 8 and 2 dogs stayed at Island Dog. Our children are ages 12-22. We loved the location, the huge screened in porch with daybed and picnic table. We ate all of our dinners on the porch and our eldest daughter loved to sleep outside on the porch with the ocean breezes. The downstairs has 2 bedrooms and an open area with seating and outdoor shower. All the kids used the outdoor shower- it was their favorite part! We loved Island Dog. The only downside to it is if you are a family that likes to cook. The kitchen was lacking in space and ammenities. The appliances are very outdated and has very little storage for our crew. We like to do one big day of shopping when we get to the island and only eat out one evening. If you are a family or group that doesn't cook then Island Dog has everything else you need, bikes, chairs, even a blow up penguin (the kids named him Douglas) The layout is fantastic! Especially if you have teenagers! Would and have recommended Island Dog! Thanks for a great stay!"

"Our stay was everything we wanted it to be. Our oldest daughter graduated from SCAD and wanted a week at the beach. My parents flew in from NH, family came from FLA and us from VA. The cottage is the perfect beach cottage; not pristine but we weren't afraid to "bring the beach in" and having our dog with us was a bonus. The screened porch was a great gathering place for dinner and family time. Was one MINOR issue that the management took care of almost before I was done writing the email! Jim Heflin is a super to work with from the reservation through our entire stay. Tybee Island in general is the place to be if you want to relax and renew. Island Dog is the place to be if you want comfortable and quaint accommodations that allow your pets to vacation with you."

Lynda, It was great working with you as well. Thank you and your family for spending your summer vacation at Island Dog Cottage. We appreciate your comments about this five bedroom cottage. Hope you will return next year. Jim

"We were very happy with this cottage. It was exactly as described. Lots of room and plenty of outdoor space. Just a little walk down to the beach. We would definitely rent this space again. The management company was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed!"

"Island Dog Cottage at 13 Tenth Court was perfect for our family. The weather on Tybee Island was windy and showery, so it limited our outside time, but we thoroughly enjoyed the conveniences of the cottage and spent time relaxing when we couldn't go was clean, comfortable, and we loved being there!"

"Loved the dog friendly, comfy atmosphere with lots of room. The bikes, beach chairs, sand toys, and boogie boards were a plus (although the bikes do need some maintenance or replacing, we still enjoyed them) We loved the closeness to the beach; wish we could have a beach view as well but you can't have it all. The kitchen was pretty basic and needs an overhead light! The property folks were very helpful with answers to questions, etc. Thanks! "
