Location, location, location. One guest made this comment in his five star review of 1709 Inlet Avenue. We think you will agree! This house feels quiet and secluded; you may see dolphins swimming in the Inlet Waterway, yet you are close enough to walk to shops and restaurants.

Enter this family friendly townhouse rental through the two-car garage stairs, or from the outside steps (15). As you walk into the spacious, open living/dining/kitchen, you will see what another guest calls THE VIEW. The Inlet and Little Tybee are visible from every part of the room, and there is an angled view of the Atlantic.

Comfortable seating, a large screen TV, and a dining room table that seats six or eight with the leaf are great for spending time together. The kitchen has a bar with three chairs and a separate bar area for vacation libations. Also features a screened porch with a cathedral ceiling and an even closer look at the Inlet and Little Tybee and a balcony for sun bathing.

There are two bedrooms and two baths on this level. The king room has a wicker bed and desk, a TV and opens into a vanity area and then a private area for the rest of the bath. The second bedroom has twin wicker beds, a TV, and a full bath with tub/shower combo that can be entered from the bedroom and the hall.

13 steps will take you to the master suite that occupies this whole level. The spacious king bedroom has a panoramic view and a TV. There is a Jacuzzi tub and two pedestal sinks opening into a separate vanity with private toilet and shower.

There is also a queen bedroom and private bath on the ground level next to the garage.

Maximum occupancy is 8 with 3 cars.

Recent Reviews About This Property

"Again couldn't ask for a better more convenient spot for my family vacation... Property was immaculate as always. Only hiccup was with one of the garage doors... Didn't slow us down any!!!"

Judith G. from Thomaston, 07/21/2022

"Had a wonderful time at this house. As others mentioned it could use a little TLC but has most everything you need. The beach chairs were a disappointment. One was broken and the other 2 were rusty and very basic. But we were able to rent chairs from Tim's Beach Gear. The screened porch was wonderful and the house is just a few sandy steps to the beach. Would stay here again. Perfect location and quiet area. "

Denise V. from LONG VALLEY, 05/09/2022

"Great . Excellent location . House was perfect for our group of 8 . Everything was well maintained and management could not have been nicer . Definitely plan to return . "

Debra E. from , 08/09/2021

"Pictures don't do this property justice. The location is great, and there's plenty of room. It's a little dated, but it's wonderful in a 1980s Barbie Dreamhouse kind of way. Would definitely stay here again."

from Decatur, 07/20/2021

"Best location ever for fishing the Back River!!! As well as close enough to all the businesses for walking... No need to drive anywhere unless you just want to. Home is the perfect size for my group!!! All the conveniences of home and then some."

Judith G. from Thomaston, 07/06/2021

"Spent a week with 3 ladies and we enjoyed this house. Kitchen amenities were all there, we just brought our food. Set up is very open and leads to the back porch where we spent much time talking and taking in the views. It is on the "back river" what a blessing. No crowds at all as compared to those on the Atlantic. The water was perfect, we were on the beach and swimming every day. We bought a kayak and the vacant garage was perfect for easy storing. If you do kayak, mind the changing tides. My friends thanked me many times for choosing this rental, would highly recommend."

Cindy M. from Largo, 06/23/2021

"We had a lovely stay. The location was just what we needed and we made great use of the porch."

from WILLIAMSVILLE, 06/05/2021

"Excellent location for a coastal paddling instructor training course. Clean home, plenty of space, easy beach access and beautiful views of Tybee Creek and the ocean."

John T. from , 05/15/2021

"What a wonderful stay! This is so close to the beach, views of sunset were wonderful. Plenty of room for eight women, parking was easy with four cars. Two large trash cans, we cooked almost every night. Steps to entrance and down stairs are thin and wobble (be careful). "

Marlene H. from , 03/16/2021

HI Marlene, So glad you had a wonderful stay for your Tybee time!! I agree, those sunsets can be amazing!. Thank you for letting us know about the steps, we will certainly have our maintenance take care of that immediately. Denise and the Tybee Cottages team

"Had a great time as usual, even though the weather turned very windy and rainy due to storms and a hurricane off FL We've been staying at 1709 for about 10 years now, and never consider any place else. Jim Heflin is always such a nice person to deal with. Also the owner. A new fridge was installed just before we arrived, which was good.

Donna s. from , 10/22/2020

"Great place to stay, nice screened in porch, walking distance to all shops, food."

Charles L. from , 10/16/2020

"Our grown kids and their partners joined us for a perfect week at 1709 Inlet Ave. The house is spacious, clean, and offers fantastic views from the den, kitchen, and a couple of the bedrooms. The screened-in porch is big and looks out over the dunes to the inlet. Just a short walk to the water or into the town. The kitchen is well organized for cooking family dinners. The whole experience was quiet and peaceful. Perfect."

Mitzi M. from Dickson, 08/03/2020

"Very accessible and close to the beach. We loved the views and spent most of our time on the screened in porch. The house is well stocked and comfortable. The only thing we found lacking was the grill Is old and had no utensils. We found the house clean but a little dated. The apartment downstairs does not have a sitting area but was perfect for our teenage son."

from , 07/21/2020

"The house was perfect - location and size. The view was fantastic! Beautiful sunsets and perfect location for fishing. Walking distance to restaurants. Everything we needed and more! Hope to be back next year!!!"

Judith G. from Thomaston, 07/20/2020

"Great location on the south end of Tybee with easy beach access."

Marc L. from , 07/13/2020

"Perfectly located on Back River and short walk to ocean waves. This home has the most beautiful views and was set up very well for our family. The kids especially enjoyed being able to walk out to the beach, hang out on the deck and come and go Witt access time everything. We can’t wait to come back next year! "

Tracey S. from Bunker Hill, 06/29/2020

"Big comfortable house. Best beach locations. Beautiful sunset views.
Kitchen big with everything you need even a blender.
Not enough towels , toilet paper or paper towels. Bring your own. "

Vicky T. from , 05/28/2020

We are glad that you and your family enjoyed your visit to 1709 Inlet Avenue. I agree. There are no better views on Tybee . As stated in our rental agreement, we only provide starter paper products.

"Although we have stayed all over Tybee, this part of the beach has grown to be our favorite. Being able to access it in a few steps, view it from almost every window and see sunsets was so wonderful. The house has a lot of space for spreading out and privacy, but has a nice open kitchen, dining and living space for the family to gather. The master suite is spacious, but the bath area could use some updating. The home had everything it needs for food prep and was very clean. As always, Jim was so kind to accommodate us. "

Beth S. from Covington, 05/24/2020

"We visit Tybee Island annually. Love this location and had a very pleasant experience. And as always, cant say enough good things about Jim Heiflin @ Tybee Cottages. Have dealt with him for the past 7 years, he NEVER disappoints. ALways professional and GREAT to deal with"

KATHY L. from Tompkinsville, 10/28/2019

"Great location on south end, easy walking distance to stores and food, Right on the beach."

Charles L. from , 07/29/2019

"We enjoy returning to this house multiple of times. It is cozy and close to the inlet. Comfy and in good condition. The management company is very responsive. Would highly recommend for a place to relax. "

Norman W. from Raton, 07/17/2019

"My family and I had a wonderful experience with out rental at 1709 Inlet Avenue. The house was exactly as expected and comfortable for 6 adults and 3 children. The house was clean and well maintained. My family has been vacationing at Tybee Island for 20+ years so we knew the area that we wanted to rent in. It is a short walk to stores and restaurants. We loved the easy access to the back was perfect for the kids. I would highly recommend this rental."

from Calais, 06/30/2019

"Our 8th year at this house. We love it. The perfect location with views across the inlet to Little Tybee, spectacular sunsets, and just a a short walk on beach to the ocean proper. The scene changes every years as the sand bars shift so it's always new when we come. Kitchen well equipped. Great views from master suite on second floor which is huge."

Donna s. from , 06/24/2019

"Exceptional "

Francis H. from Simpsonville, 06/17/2019

"Everything was fabulous! Loved the location and the house itself! Right beside the public access walkway so quite a bit of foot traffic. The property is somewhat blocked off by trees so that wasn't an issue. We will definitely choose this house again!"

from clayton, 06/05/2019

"Family Thanksgiving. Just right for 8 of us. Nice to have enough bathrooms and bedrooms. Perfect location if the weather had been a little nicer to enjoy being outside. The only complaint that I have is that there weren't washcloths in every bathroom."

Laura L. from , 11/27/2018

KATHY L. from Tompkinsville, 10/22/2018

"Great place to stay on Tybee Island. Kids kayaked all day. Fantastic views from the deck. Upstairs master suite (wife and I used) with jacuzzi. Used it, nice.. Overall, would recommend to anyone.
Now, VERY minor critiques. Not enough not to stay again. Haven't had toilet paper like that since I was in the military. Jucuzzi kinda worked when it wanted to. As I said minor. Would stay again anytime.."

Dennis G. from Warner Robins, 10/16/2018

John T. from , 05/14/2018

Wonderful Vacation!

"My family and I have rented this particular house several times now and each time it has been a wonderful experience. Great house with a beautiful view! Jim is great to work with. He is also so helpful and very responsive when we've needed to reach out to him. My family and I hope to continue vacationing in this house for summers to come!"

Jennifer M. from savannah, 01/15/2018

"Location! Location! Location! Perfect!!!"

Sonya J. from , 10/30/2017

"Nice. quiet location, close to all the shops, food and bars. Loved the screen porch and water views."

Charles L. from , 08/07/2017

"Have been returning to this home just because it is a great home and the location is perfect. The home is kept clean and being updated. The location has a beautiful view of the inlet and out to the ocean. Walking distance to the south end of town and also getting to the ocean. I would highly recommend it to anyone."

Norman W. from Raton, 07/03/2017

"Our families LOVE this house and it's location. We have been staying here for 7 years now. Previously several years at smaller Tybee Cottage rental. I can't say enough good things about Jim Heflin, the manager, and the owners. They are very responsive to any problems- repaired almost immediately. This year old window AC went out downstairs and was replaced the next day before 11am. We like cooking at 'home' and kitchen is well-stocked, altho I always bring my own spices and sharp knives. This time couldn't find lids that fitted larger pots, though. But that's a mere quibble to a glorious location where you can sit on screened porch and watch the tides roll in to inlet and across to Little Tybee Island, as well as ocean. MUCH less crowded here even on the weekends and ideal for small children as water is shallow and less rough. We will continue to come to 1709 Inlet Ave. as long as we're able!

Donna s. from , 06/26/2017

Great. Outdoor shower full of debris but usable."

joseph h. from NORFOLK, 04/17/2017

"The house was in a great location with a grand view of the water. The grandkids went to the beach almost every day. I spent most of my time on the screened in porch watching the waves and the birds. We liked the way the house was laid out. With three floors we could separate or come together as a group. I would rent this place again."

Mary H. from , 04/10/2017

Best vacation ever!!!!

"This vacation rental was the best ever. We take 1 big vacation with 3 other couples each year, our vacation to Tybee Island was the best in life. We have been all over the Caribbean, but you don't have to leave the States to enjoy warm water, warm white sand, palm trees, screened-in-porch with the Inlet and ocean as your back yard. We are coming back in 2017. Nothing has compared to Tybee Island. Love it"

Toni R. from Dayton, OH, 10/13/2016

"We've been renting from Tybee Cottages for close to 10 years, 1709 Inlet for most of those years. Owner Jim Heflin runs a good company, very professional and quick to fix a couple small repairs over the years. This year we found new kitchen range, and other newer items, which we enjoyed. We love this house, and will always ask for it- the perfect size for 6 adults and one 5 year old! The location offers gorgeous views of Little Tybee, the inlet and constantly changing sand bars and cloud formations."

Donna s. from , 09/27/2016

"Great views Walking distance shops, food."

Charles L. from , 08/15/2016

What a week!

"Our family met up on Tybee Island for a week of sun and fun. The house was perfect for a group of 5; very clean, well appointed and plenty of space. We were right on the inlet with only a few minutes walk to the beach. The views were wonderful and there was a constant breeze. We cooked most nights in the well fitted out kitchen and enjoyed drinks on the screened in porch overlooking the water. We watched dolphins swim in the inlet from our dining room table on a couple of occasions. In short, it was the perfect accommodation for a family just wanting to relax and spend time together."

Mitzi M. from Dickson, 06/26/2016

"Girls weekend getaway and this house was perfect for our group of 7. Enough room, big kitchen to cook, deck with a fantastic view. We were all really happy with this house, thank you!"

Kerri F. from , 04/26/2016

"Beautiful home, great location"

Cindy M. from Covington, 04/22/2016

"Very Enjoyable and relaxing."

Richard Y. from , 10/27/2015

"WE have rented this home for at least 5 years now. We love it! The location is good- just around the 'corner' from the ocean, with a wonderful view of Little Tybee Island as well as the water. Watching the tides come and go from the screened in porch is guaranteed to relieve stress. Bedrooms are on three levels, so each couple/family can have some privacy with a common kitchen, Dr and LR. Basement level has it's own kitchen and walk-out brick patio. We love Tybee ,
1709 Inlet Avenue AND Jim Heflin, the realtor whom we have dealt with for years."

Donna s. from , 09/08/2015

"Great views of dolphins swimming, Nice house large master bedroom, everything you can ask for, walking distant of stores, food."

Charles L. from , 08/31/2015

"Wonderful location. Beds were all comfortable. House could use some minor repairs(screen porch broken rail, etc) but maintenance requests were handled properly. Housekeeping appeared to miss many dust bunnies, otherwise clean. Bedrooms could use curtains to help block out morning light. 3 windows in master suite with no window covering at all. Easy beach walk with excellent swimming area. We would rent this house again."

Teresa G. from Kennesaw, 08/03/2015

"Our vacation included people from 5 to 67. The location was ideal for all. The teens could easily walk or bike to the convenience store or to get a bite to eat. We were so close to the water, that it was easy to get back and forth. There was hardly a day that dolphins weren't entertaining us from the screen in porch, which, in my opinion, was the best feature of the house. Everything was clean. The kitchen was very well stocked with whatever pots, pans, or utensils you would need. Plenty of counter space. "

Lee Ann H. from , 06/01/2015

"Great house and location. The large screened porch is awesome! The property is very well maintained. Enjoyed The Sundae Cafe, Tybee's best kept secret."

Connie J. from Nicholson, 05/02/2015

"wonderful and will be back next year"

Sherri W. from , 04/22/2015

"Tybee can be a bustling vacation spot, but the tip of the island is quiet, with fabulous sunsets and quick access to the beach. "

Al V. from , 03/25/2015

"the home was wonderful and the view spectacular
would stay here any time

Helen T. from Sandy Springs, 12/15/2014

"Great service from the rental agent. Beautiful view from the porch. Clean, well designed house with all the amenities you need for a great beach vacation."

Dale W. from Tybee Island, 11/17/2014

"Enjoyed the trip, looking forward to exploring Tybee Island again soon. The house was great only had a hard time figuring out the stove other than that property was as advertised, the downstairs bedroom could use some brightening up make it more inviting."

from West Columbia , 10/08/2014

"Thank you Tybee Cottages! My family had a great week at the beach! The house and view was wonderful. "

Jennifer M. from , 08/31/2014

"This location was a perfect location for our family vacation. Near the inlet but close enough to the ocean and also businesses. Didn't have any issues with noise from cars or other vacationers. House was clean and in good condition. Plenty of room for the 7 of us. Spent lots of time on the screened in deck and enjoying the view. Can't wait til next year. Glad this home was available."

Norman W. from Raton, 07/29/2014

"We had a great family vacation at Inlet Ave. The view is lovely and we spent the majority of our time on the porch enjoying the views. We already want to book it again for next year!"

Kathleen D. from Savannah, 07/21/2014

"What a home! We were so comfortable and pleased with this house. It is in a perfect location on the river side, yet steps to the ocean. The sunsets are incredible and the dolphins play just outside your windows. We spent every morning and night on the screened porch, which made our trip. Thanks for allowing us to create a wonderful family memory. We'll be back. "

Jenny W. from Knoxville, 06/09/2014

"The location and view are incredible. Most of our time was spent on the screen porch enjoying the view and time together."

Karen L. from Jasper, 05/19/2014

"Loved the location on a super quiet inlet. Not many people on the beach, great views of the water, and you can hear the waves when the breeze picks up. House has tons of light and windows, charming screened porch and open deck. Gorgeous lower patio could use some furniture. There are a couple of windows in the master suite that could use some curtains. The bedrooms were a little dated but very comfortable. All four bedrooms had their own bathrooms. Jim Heflin, the manager, was super-helpful. I hope we can come back!"

from Golden, 05/05/2014

"The house was absolutely amazing. Plenty of room for the whole family and perfect access to the beach. We arrived a day early and Mr Heflin was great at getting us into the house early without flaw. Will absolutely stay in this house again!!!"

Dean B. from Granite City, 04/23/2014

"Me, my husband and some of our extended family stayed here. It was great! So roomy and comfortable. It is technically a duplex but it felt so secluded. THE VIEW! Oh my, spectacular! I could go on forever here! I will definitely be renting the house again for future getaways! "

Katherine E. from , 10/05/2013

"My family have rented this house for 5 years and we always enjoy it. This year was even better- dated wallpaper had been removed and everything freshly painted. Jim Heflin, the manager, is always helpful. We rented a smaller property from him, before our family grew. He's a great guy!"

Donna s. from , 09/24/2013

"This house was perfect! It was just the right size and had everything you could possibly need. You could walk right out to the beach, there was plenty of parking and it was close enough to walk to most restaurants. Jim Heflin was incredibly helpful in getting the home booked and we loved our stay!"

Nora B. from , 08/27/2013

"The bath tub drains were not functioning well. The overall maintenance and cleanliness needs work."

John K. from , 08/02/2013

John, We would have appreciated a call if there were issues that were not up to standard while you were here. We would have taken care of them immediately. Please let me know specifically what was not clean or needed maintainance work. Jim

"We were very satisfied with our stay. The location was awesome and the house was roomy and had everything we needed."

Jennifer M. from , 07/27/2013

"We live only 20 minutes from Tybee, but love this house and the location so much!! It is a great getaway and the property management is awesome!"

Elise Z. from , 07/15/2013

"We had a great time on Tybee Island. We loved the location of this house. The inlet was much less crowded and the clam water was great for little kids.

The 'big ocean' (as the kids called it) was a short walk, or drive away. We would spend a few hours there playing in the waves with the buggy boards and then go back to the house, where the kids could play in the water without us having to be right there with them all the time.

The only down side was that we could not hear the ocean waves from the house.

The house was very nice. It is well maintained and was clean and comfortable.

The 10:00 check out time was a little early though. Especially when you are supposed to have all the dishes washed, garbage out and laundry in the laundry room. It was hard to get all our stuff packed and the house picked up and out by 10:00.

The house cleaner showed up at 10:30 and we were just finishing up our packing. She was pretty rude about us not being out yet.

I understand that they have to get the house clean and ready for the next guests, but they could send more then one person to clean which would make it go faster and they could have an 11:00 check out time."

"Trips to Tybee are made easier by Tybee Cottages. I always use them to rent when I visit."

Nell M. from Smyrna, 05/22/2013

"Property location and views were wonderful. Great, quiet location with easy access into Savannah and surrounding area. Watched dolphins swimming in the inlet from the back porch. Rain and 35mph winds failed to spoil our trip."

Dominic M. from Knoxville, 05/08/2013

"The beach house was very nice, well equipped, and offered a terrific view. We really enjoyed it and the location was excellent. We have used Tybee Cottages many times and they are always very professional and accommodating."

"Perfect house for a family to share. Looking forward to returning to Tybee."

Mary Kay H. from Maggie Valley, 10/09/2012

"Our family of five had a great time on Tybee Island. I love the fact that Tybee is not too commercial, yet we found plenty of fun things to do. We will use Tybee Cottages for all of our future stays. They were very helpful, answered all of my questions, and made finding our ideal vacation spot easy. We have told all of our friends about our fun trip!"

"This is our third vacation at this home. Great location right on the back shore beach. Appreciated the renovations completed since our last visit, however I did miss the small deck that was removed from outside the master bedroom. I have previously enjoyed sunsets from the deck. We had a few problems. The stove has a child lock on the oven (it was locked)and we had to go on-line to find tech data to figure out how to unlock this setting. This home has many, many lighr switches. It would make use easier for a visitor if they were labeled. You need to do a perimeter spraying in the garage and the outside door on the lower level. We had a problem with bugs of the very large variety. I love this place. We will be back."

"The property is in a great location on the south end of tybee. Many recent upgrades made this year's stay even better than in the past. We will be back!!"

Marc L. from , 09/03/2012

Marc, We appreciate your comments. I will pass along your comments to Larry regarding the improvements. Thank you for staying at 1709 again this summer. Hope to have you back next year. Jim

"My family & myself stayed here at Inlet Ave. recently. My family who lives out west had never been to the beach. There were seven kids all seven years old & younger & this place was PERFECT for us. Not only were the views great from the cottage itself but not having to load & unload kids every day was great but being on the river where small kids could swim without being beat up by the waves & also being that close to the ocean made it convenient. Just like anything over time the house has taken some wear & tear & could use a little work. All & all this is a great place to stay & my family had a blast."

"The location and beach were great. The parking was not too good right at house but very small.
However, the screened pourch was the greatest and made up for any short comings the property might have, I recommend this property highly and plan on staying again."

"Awesome stay! View took my our breath away! Closer to the beach than most homes on the ocean! Beds were comfortable. Drive way NOT for larger vehicles! Very difficult."

Charlene M. from Hueytown, 05/14/2012

"Location was phenomenal , Jim Heflin made the process of booking a breeze, and our time there was refreshing and peaceful."

"brick wall made manuvering of cars difficult...obviously for others also - as it had been hit many times!"

Ellen H. from Decatur, 01/11/2012

"Had some bug issues in kitchen and downstairs bedrooms and think that the kitchen equipment needs restocking ( no cookie sheets for example), but otherwise, it feels like home since we have rented this property a number of times in the past. This was the first time in the summer, however, and proximity to the ocean beach was an issue when hauling kids and equipment."

Patty H. from , 06/13/2011

Patty, Thank you for your comments. We always appreciate your staying with us when you are on Tybee. Thanks, too, for the heads up on the kitchen issue. This will be taken care of immediately. Jim

"My husband and I took our 2 grown sons and family for some seaside relaxation. This was exactly the ticket. We were slightly disappointed by the function (or lack) of some of the features of the home (jacuzzi, DVD player, dishwasher, icemaker) but the view was breathtaking and although the beach was not private, it never felt like a public beach. We plan to do this every year."

Kathy K. from atlanta, 06/07/2011

Kathy, Thank you for your comments. We either have corrected the issues you mentioned or are in the process of correcting them. It was nice meeting you and your husband. We hope you will come back to see us in the future.
